The new circle cutter from Stew Mac has arrived. It's a quantum leap ahead of the old one, that has served many of us here for years. I haven't cut anything with it yet but will have a trial run on some scrap soon. A couple of pictures to compare the old one to the new. The adjustment seem very good, and the build quality is up to their usual standard. Bulk buy Lance?

Does anyone know what the minimum diameter hole the new base will cut? I need a minimum diameter of 2". Is it possible with the new base? I know the old one will not do it.

Tracy, the new base looks as if it'll go down to 3" same as the old one. 2" for a soundport?

If you had a new one you could always customise the old one by extending the two slots by 1/2" in opposite directions, top one towards the end, lower one towards the cutter, there is just enough metal to do that, that would give you a 2" circle.

Thanks Colin! The 2" circle is used for cigar box ukulele's, and rosettes for cigar box ukuleles. Also for doing the spiral rosettes. I'll try to just modify the one I have. Thanks!

Wow, Colin, that was fast for international shipping! Another "attaboy" to Stew-Mac! Looks like they've turned your initial "complaint" into a lot of good will, from you and others on this forum. Now, that's good business!

Carlton

I live in a rural part of the UK, and Stewmac deliver to me in 2 days, via DHL from Ohio, to ship for instance three sets of waverleys costs $ 22.00 incredible.

They are faster than most of my UK Suppliers !

They have some incrediable logistics, LMI via Fedex are about the same, just a bit more expensive on shipping, I have always assumed this is because they are West Cost

Got mine yesterday! No chance to test it out but I can already tell the micro-adjust mechanism is going to help a lot! Yay!

I don't understand a group buy on this product? Stew-Mac does not offer a discount on this. Am I missing something?

I guess we are hoping that Lance and the boys can negotiate something if we have enough buyers.........maybe!
